March is in full swing here in the piedmont region of North Carolina! New York, Milan, and Paris have launched spring 2014. Magazines and catwalks are glowing with the newest Pantone color Radiant orchid; this only makes me think one thing;
How the Hell am I going to pair this vibrant whimsical color with the drab greys, greens, and blacks of my winter wardrobe.
Here is my paradox… how do you, or I enjoy or embrace spring 2014 fashion in wool.
Accessorize till you are blue,purple,or Radiant Orchid in the Face!
So many local businesses have spring lines in and what is left over from winter on sale. Vert& Vouge in Brightleaf has 50% off of winter, buy that black sweater you couldn’t afford in December for half off. While you are there pick up one of my favorite new Scarfs: so warm and soft, I can still wear it with a t shirt in April and look effortless!
While your downtown Durham just a few blocks over introduce yourself to Donna and Stella the co-creators of Dear Hearts; its a lifestyle brand that will surely add some radiance to your day. One of the best ways to transition from winter blue into spring is with a jumper or an overall dress. Oshkosh acid wash Denim overall dress can be worn with an oversized sweater for some Olsen Twin flare or can be left alone with just a tank once the piedmont region decides to turn 70 degrees.
I know what your thinking,
there is no way I’m going to wear an overall dress and look as good as that model, or I think that is my overall dress from 1992 and I wore it with Doc Martens’.
All of these things might possibly be true, but once Donna Orr gets a hold of you I swear you wont only be better dressed, but you’ll be better suited for life. Did I mention their prices are ridiculously reasonable, so buy 2 !
Last but not the least, treat yourself to a piece of bling! Walk into Jewelsmith off of 9th street the staff is easy and fun to work with. My current obsession and trend for 2014 is layering, this super light amethyst necklace can be worn 3 different ways and looks good with a black sweater as well as a classic white T. This necklace that will update your wardrobe, mood and evolve season after season.
by the time this article is finished you’ve long since forgotten what the pantone color of 2014 even was…terrible tangerine? Wait terrific terracotta.. any way go buy local you deserve it its freaking freezing.
